Comprehensive Oral Exams

As dentists we are specialists in caring for your oral health, and the health of your mouth is affected by your overall health and vice versa. During our comprehensive oral evaluation your dentist will consider all aspects of your health, to come up with the best plan moving forward.

Your dentists will examine the TMJ, musculature, perform an oral cancer screening, examine soft tissues, airway health, sleep, diet, how your bite fits together, the health of your gums and jawbone, as well as check for any breakdown of the teeth in the form of cavities, cracks, chips, etc. We pride ourselves on going above and beyond for each patient and by looking comprehensively.

Gentle Cleanings

At Overman Family Dentistry we recommend a check-up every 6 months, as cleanings are an essential part of your oral and overall health. At your check up we do a thorough examination to ensure no new issues have developed.

Once per year, we recommended updating digital x-rays to exam for cavities or various other pathologies. We will also perform an oral cancer screening, and you will have your teeth professionally cleaned by one of our hygienists.

Periodontal

Periodontal disease is a form of gum disease that results in bone loss. Excessive buildup of plaque and tartar can cause significant inflammation which results in bone receding; if left untreated this will eventually result in tooth loss.

Each individual gets a cleaning tailored to their specific needs, our hygienists and dentists do a thorough assessment of gum and bone health to come up with a plan/ People with periodontal disease typically need a deep cleaning below the gums, and return more frequently for cleanings, typically in 3-4 month intervals.

Pediatric Care

Our goal at Overman Family Dentistry is to make sure that your first visit to the dentist in not intimidating, for little ones ages 3 and under, a first appointment “happy visit”, can be a great way to get your child acclimated to coming to see the dentist. On a happy visit, your child will get a chance to meet with us in a non-intimidating way.

We show each child the dental chair and give them a ride on it, show off all our instruments and our cool suction (Mr. Thirsty). Your child can get a temporary tattoo and the doctors have been known to make some fun balloon animals out of office supplies. We will finish with a check-up from the doctor and answer any questions that you may have about your child’s oral health.

Bridges

A bridge can be used to replace a single tooth by anchoring a fake tooth to the adjacent teeth. Crowns are placed on the teeth adjacent to the space, and a fake tooth that is connected to the crowns “bridges” the gap between them. This process is very similar to having a crown done, typically taking two appointments.
