Cosmetic Dentistry

Let us help you smile with confidence! If you are looking to improve the appearance of your teeth, there are a number of solutions through cosmetic dentistry procedures.

We know you want to have a beautiful smile, and here is how we help make that happen.

Custom Tooth Whitening

Custom tooth whitening is a great way to brighten your smile as well as boost your confidence. A custom fitted whitening tray allows a higher strength whitening gel to be used because the trays keep the gel on your teeth and off your gums. We start by taking a scan of your teeth then make the trays in our lab in house, before and after photos are taken so that you may see your progress.

Crowns

A crown (cap) is a covering that encases the tooth to strengthen and protect it. If a tooth is weakened due to decay, cracking, fracture, large fillings, or if the tooth has had a root canal; a crown may be needed to strengthen it.The process of getting a crown is done in two appointments, the first is when the tooth will be trimmed and shaped so that we have room for the eventual crown, we will then take an highly accurate impression (mold) and out a temporary crown over the tooth. The impression we take will be sent to a dental lab and at your second appointment, the temporary crown will be replaced by the lab fabricated permanent crown.

Veneers

Veneers are very thin shells of either porcelain or resin composite which are bonded to the front of your existing tooth to improve shape or color. Veneers can be used to fix misshapen, discolored, or chipped teeth as well as to fix spaces between teeth. They help to create a uniform, whiter, and more aesthetically pleasing smile. The process is very similar to crowns and typically takes two appointments.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a medical grade titanium post that is placed into the jaw bone, your natural bone will grow around it to anchor it in place. After four to six months of healing, an impression is made and a dental lab will fabricate a crown that will screw directly into the implant. Dental implants are also used under dentures to help make them more stable and secure.

Tissue/Bone Grafting

When a tooth is removed, the bone that was keeping the tooth secure into the jaw can end up shrinking, bone grafting is a great way to minimize shrinkage and preserve bone. It is important to preserve bone if tooth replacement is the ultimate goal, doing a graft makes sure there is sufficient bone for a future dental implant or to improve aesthetics under a bridge. If a tooth replacement is not the goal now, a bone graft is still a good idea to keep your options open in the future.

Dentures

Dentures are removable prosthetic teeth that fit over the gums in areas where the teeth are missing. They are made of strong acrylic and are held in place by suction around the gums and occasionally with denture adhesives. After you have teeth removed, the gums and bone are needed to heal for around six to eight weeks. The process of getting dentures fitted differs in each individual’s case, but usually takes around four to six appointments where various impressions and molds will be made.

Invisalign

Invisalign clear aligners can straighten your teeth without all of the fixed metal brackets and wires. Invisalign consists of a series of custom clear trays that fit snug around your teeth as well as the tooth colored buttons that we attach to your teeth, the buttons are discrete and nearly visible to the naked eye. There are many benefits to straighter and properly aligned teeth, they are more hygienic and function or chew better in addition to boosting confidence and self-esteem.

At your first appointment, a scan of your mouth will be made so that the dentist along with the Invisalign technician can come up with a custom treatment plan for your smile. The aligners are then 3D printed, tooth colored buttons are placed on some of your teeth, and you begin wearing the trays for one to two weeks before moving on to the next set. The buttons we attach to your teeth are used to help shift your teeth to the desired position and are easily removed after you finish all your Invisalign trays.

Smile Makeovers

Our doctors will listen to what you want changed about your smile and come up with a custom treatment plan to fit your needs; these can be done with Invisalign, composite bonding, porcelain veneers and crowns, or a combination of each.

Your first appointment will typically be a scan or impression of your teeth as well as a discussion of what you are wanting for your smile goals. Your new smile will be designed digitally or in wax, we are able to do a temporary material over your teeth to show you what your new smile will look like on your – think of it as a smile test drive. From there, your additional appointments will be set up to start your smile transformation.

It doesn’t get any better!

My teeth used to be the thing I was always worried about. I didn’t take care of them very well, and I hated to smile. After going to Dr. Overman’s, I can’t stop smiling all the time and look forward to taking pictures.
